DIXIE CHICKS GO GRAY
Country sensations The Dixie Chicks have long been fans of soulful country singer Dobie Gray ("Drift Away"). Chicks' lead vocalist Natalie Maines recently recalled that her father recorded two Dobie Gray songs years ago with his group The Maines Brothers Band. Gray's classic "Lovin' Arms" appears on the Chicks' multi platinum debut Monument CD "Wide Open Spaces".
In their recent concert appearance at Tim McGraw's second annual New Year's Eve Blast, the Chicks invited Gray on stage to perform "Lovin' Arms". They also performed a rousing rendition of the Ike & Tina Turner version of the
Credence Clearwater Revival classic "Proud Mary" which brought the sold out crowd to their feet.
